Investigation underway after UCLA student was sexually assaulted in her bed while sleeping

Authorities have launched an investigation after a University of California, Los Angeles student was sexually assaulted early Friday morning while sleeping in her own bed.

The attack occurred at about 2:40 a.m. in the Saxon Suites, student dormitories in the 300 block of De Neve Drive, according to a UCLA police news release.

“The suspect entered the victim’s suite in an unknown manner,” the press release states. “The suspect entered the victim’s bedroom while she was in bed. The suspect sexually assaulted her and then left the room in an unknown direction.”

According to investigators, the victim received medical treatment on site.

The suspect was described as a heavyset man in his 30s with curly hair. He was dressed all in black and wore a beanie hat, police said.
