In drone attacks on the town of Shebekino in Russia’s Belgorod Oblast on the night of July 6, several buildings, vehicles and an industrial facility were damaged and one person was injured, said Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov.

In recent months, there have been increasing reports of air strikes on Belgorod Oblast, which borders the Ukrainian oblasts of Sumy, Kharkiv and Luhansk.

According to Gladkov, a total of eleven houses were damaged in the attacks. Power lines also collapsed throughout the community. The social infrastructure was also damaged in the attacks, Gladkov claimed.

The Kyiv Independent could not confirm Gladkov’s claims and the Ukrainian military has not yet commented on the alleged attack.

Kyiv does not always officially take responsibility for reported attacks on Russian soil. In some cases, Ukraine has denied Russian allegations regarding attacks in Belgorod Oblast.

Ukraine has increasingly carried out attacks on Russia’s oil infrastructure and arms industry in the first half of the year.

Previously, a drone attack on the Russian region of Krasnador on the night of July 6 caused fires at two oil depots and also damaged a communications tower, various Russian media reported.

On July 1, the Oskol electrometallurgical plant in Belgorod Oblast was severely damaged by a Ukrainian drone attack, a military intelligence source told the Kyiv Independent on July 3. The plant, which is crucial for the Russian military-industrial complex, is the only metallurgical enterprise in Russia that covers the entire production cycle, according to the source.
