Man arrested after attempting to stab store clerk in Vacaville

(KRON) — A Vacaville man was arrested Friday afternoon after attempting to stab an employee at a local store, Vacaville police said. He allegedly attacked and headbutted an officer before being taken into custody.

The manager of Shop Heroic Wholesale Outlets, which sells everything from clothing to air conditioners to dog food at 615 Elmira Road in Vacaville, called police just before 1 p.m. to say a man tried to stab an employee.

Surveillance video (above) shows the man throwing an object at the employee and hitting him before leaving the store.

Officers found the suspect walking shirtless toward Nut Tree Plaza. They held him at gunpoint and ordered him to put his hands in the air, police said.

“The man initially complied with the instruction, but kept a strangely distant but unmistakably threatening look in his eyes,” said a Facebook post by the VPD.

He then dropped his hands and walked “aggressively” toward officers, police said. Officers told him he would be tasered if he continued walking, and he stopped, police said.

The suspect was identified as Steven Daniel Case, 40. VPD said he also committed a robbery at a Walmart on Friday morning. Case is also believed to have slashed tires on his way out of Shop Heroic.

Police found a knife when they arrested Case. He has been arrested several times in recent months and is currently in jail without bail.
