Man charged in fatal Newport Beach crash that killed cyclist 2 years ago

A 58-year-old man was charged with a felony on Friday in connection with a fatal crash in Newport Beach two years ago that killed a cyclist.

Ronald Elston Benjamin was charged Monday with intoxicated manslaughter without gross negligence and driving while intoxicated causing personal injury, both felony offenses, as well as child abuse and endangerment. He faces an enhanced sentence for causing serious bodily harm to the victim.

The collision occurred on June 10, 2022. The victim was identified in the criminal complaint only as George H.
