Shiv Sena leader attacked in broad daylight on the busy Ludhiana Road by four men with swords

Punjab Shiv Sena politician Sandeep Thapar was attacked by four unidentified men outside Ludhiana Hospital on Friday afternoon.

As captured by the CCTV camera, Thapar was riding his scooter on the busy road in front of the hospital when the attack occurred.

The footage shows that the accused followed Thapar on foot as he came out of the hospital with his gunman on the pillion seat. Soon after, the men confronted him and the Shiv Sena leader pleaded for mercy with folded hands while one of the attackers repeatedly hit him on the head with the sword. Soon, Thapar lost his balance and fell on the road along with his two-wheeler while one of the attackers continued to attack him with a sword.

The shocking attack occurred in broad daylight and left passersby completely shocked. In the meantime, the first attacker took the scooter and drove away with his companion.

According to police sources, quoted by Hindustan NewspaperHis fatal attack occurred after the leader left the office of the non-governmental organization Samvedna Trust, where he was to attend a ceremony marking the fourth death anniversary of Ravinder Arora, the trust’s founder and president.

The injured leader was immediately taken to a public hospital and from there referred to the local Dayanand Medical College and Hospital.

Commenting on the incident, Deputy Commissioner of Police Jaskiranjit Singh Teja said a case of attempt to murder had been registered against the unidentified attackers and an investigation was underway to find them.

Following the incident, Shiv Sena leaders from Punjab gathered outside the Civil Hospital and chanted slogans against the Punjab government and police. Shiv Sena Punjab youth wing president Sumit Arora said that Thapar was provided with three shooters but only a week ago the police withdrew his protection. However, later the services of a shooter were resumed but according to Arora’s allegations, the shooter let the accused escape easily.
