Woman leads police on high-speed chase through Macomb County in stolen car

EASTPOINTE, Mich. – Police are searching for a woman after she led officers on a chase through Macomb County in a stolen car.

When a stolen vehicle from Taylor was discovered in Eastpointe, police quickly responded, but the driver had other plans: He slammed on the gas, stole a patrol car and sped down a major road in the wrong direction.

The incident occurred early Friday morning, July 5. The woman is still on the run.

She was driving over 70 miles per hour on Gratiot Avenue and was barely able to avoid other vehicles before crossing the border into Roseville.

The pursuit began at a 7-Eleven store near 9 Mile Road and Hayes Avenue. Police were alerted to people sleeping in a car in the parking lot, and when they checked the license plate, they discovered it was stolen.

A man and a woman were in the vehicle, and instead of turning herself in, she hit the gas. Police said she nearly hit the officer and then crashed into the patrol car before driving off.

After a short chase, the woman crossed the border into Roseville and Eastpointe police called off the pursuit.

The driver has not yet been located.

“We know who you are,” said Eastpointe police officer Alex Holish. “Turn yourself in. The longer you run, the more trouble you’ll get in.”

The police in Roseville also briefly pursued the woman, but then aborted the operation for safety reasons.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Eastpointe Police Department at 586-445-5100.
