Hundreds attend wake for NYPD officer who died when accused drunk driver plowed into Deer Park nail salon

Hundreds of people attended the wake for NYPD officer Emilia Rennhack on Friday.

Rennhack was one of four people who died a week ago when a vehicle driven by a suspected drunk driver crashed into a nail salon in Deer Park.

Members of the New York Police Department flocked to the New Hyde Park Funeral Home to pay their final respects to Officer Rennhack and to support her husband, with whom she worked in the same precinct.

“The loss of his wife is such an emotional burden for him and our family in blue is grieving right now,” said Patrick Hendry, president of the New York City PBA.

Several streets in New Hyde Park will be closed on Saturday ahead of Rennhack’s funeral.

Lakeville Road from Whittier Avenue to Park Avenue and Lowell Avenue from North Seventh Street to Lakeville Road will be closed in both directions starting at 11:00 a.m. for the duration of construction.
