Hot weekend with isolated thunderstorms

Action News Jax Chief Meteorologist Mike Buresh is tracking the hot temperatures this weekend.

It will be a hot weekend with maximum temperatures around 30 degrees.

Sunburn time reduced to 10 minutes from 10am to 4pm

There will be isolated showers and thunderstorms Saturday afternoon, starting near I-95 and then moving inland.

There will be frequent showers and thunderstorms on Sunday afternoon, and heavy downpours may occur in some places.

In the tropics, Beryl made landfall in Tulum, Mexico, early Friday as a Category 2 hurricane. It has since weakened to a tropical storm.

According to forecasts, Beryl will gradually strengthen again during the night from Sunday to Monday and pose a threat to South Texas.

There will be no local impacts or impacts across Florida.

AT THE MOMENT: Mostly to partly sunny with temperatures of over 30 degrees on the beaches to mid-30 degrees inland. Isolated showers and thunderstorms far inland.

THE TROPICS: (1) Hurricane Beryl made landfall near Tulum, Mexico around 7 a.m. EDT. It is now moving across the southwestern Gulf of Mexico as a tropical storm and will slowly strengthen over the weekend. It may make landfall in southern Texas Sunday night/Monday – no local impacts. (2) A tropical wave is moving into the central/western Caribbean and may arrive over the far west/SW Gulf of Mexico next week, but has no local impacts.
