Investigations underway after a person was found dead in a car fire in Rocky Top

ROCKY TOP, Tennessee – One person was found dead following a car fire on the Norris Freeway in Rocky Top, according to Rocky Top police.

Police, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office are investigating.

There is currently little information about the age and gender of the person found dead. The fire occurred on Friday afternoon in a busy business district of the city.

According to police, the unidentified vehicle was found burning at the corner of Norris Freeway and Mason Street.

Authorities closed the Norris Freeway there, and police said the closure is expected to remain in place for several hours.

“Due to the ongoing investigation, no further information can be released at this time,” police said in a Facebook statement.
