Weather-related lane closures on WIS 22 in Waupaca County

MANAWA, WI – Severe flooding has forced the closure of lanes on WIS 22 near Manawa in Waupaca County. The incident occurred on July 5, 2024 at approximately 11:30 a.m. and affected both northbound and southbound traffic at the intersection of WIS 22 and WIS 54 and on Highway N.

According to the Waupaca County Sheriff’s Department, the closure is expected to last approximately two hours. Motorists are asked to use alternate routes as all lanes in both directions are currently closed.

There are reports that people have called 911 and requested water rescue, and some reports speak of water reaching the steering wheels of vehicles and people being stuck in their cars. The National Weather Service in Green Bay reported that a local nursing home was evacuated.

The National Weather Service advised people to avoid travel and seek higher ground.
