July 4: Police report two teenagers injured by fireworks in Berkeley

BERKELEY, Calif. (KGO) – According to Berkeley police, two teenagers were injured by fireworks on Thursday.

One of them was taken to hospital.

It happened on Fairview Street near Ellis. Officers arrived at the intersection shortly before 10 p.m.

It is unclear whether the teenagers operated the fireworks or whether someone else did.

“One of the juveniles was taken to the hospital with moderate injuries. He is expected to survive. The second juvenile had minor injuries. He was treated at the scene. He was released to a parent or guardian at the scene,” said Sergeant Donovan Edwards of the Berkeley Police Department.

Edwards says the teens’ parents were notified as soon as they found the boys.
