Multiple shootings in Boston after July 4 celebrations; 1 man killed and 6 injured

BOSTON – There were four shootings in Boston within hours of 4th of July celebrations in the city. One man was killed and six others injured, Boston police said.

Man shot on Shawmut Avenue

Boston police said officers were called to 618 Shawmut Ave, near Ramsay Park on the border of the South End and Lower Roxbury, just after 1:33 a.m. and found a man suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to the hospital, where he later died. The man’s name was not released.

3 people shot in Jamaica Plain

Just minutes earlier, Boston police officers were called to the scene of 297 Centre St. in Jamaica Plain, where three adults had been shot. They were all taken to the hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

Shooting on Blue Hill Avenue

A Boston police spokesman said there was a third shooting later that night at a gas station on Blue Hill Avenue. Boston Medical Center reported the shooting to police after the victim arrived at the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Mattapan shooting on Friday afternoon

Two people were shot on Gladeside Avenue near Donwood Terrace in Mattapan around 12:30 p.m. Friday. Police said one of the victims was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.

No arrests yet in Boston shootings

Boston police told WBZ-TV that no arrests have been made in connection with the shootings, but that all individuals are under investigation.
