Police arrest burglary suspect in Albuquerque

Police officers have arrested a man suspected of committing multiple burglaries. Albuquerque Police have determined that 42-year-old Dorsett Matthews is a suspect in at least two robberies. An arrest warrant was issued for him on Wednesday, July 3. His suspect vehicle was found and pursued by Albuquerque Police officers. This resulted in Matthews being pulled over for a traffic stop. A warrant was issued for Matthews. He was on probation for another burglary, which police say was revoked. He is accused of breaking into a home on Hacienda Drive NE on Tuesday, June 18 and assaulting residents there. Matthews allegedly shoved a homeowner to the ground before stealing $150 and fleeing. Detectives have arrested a man suspected of committing several burglaries.

Albuquerque Police determined that 42-year-old Dorsett Matthews is a suspect in at least two robberies. An arrest warrant was issued on Wednesday, July 3.

His suspect vehicle was located and pursued by Albuquerque Police Detectives, resulting in Matthews being pulled over for a traffic stop.

A warrant was issued for Matthews’ arrest. He was on probation for another burglary, but police say his probation was revoked.

He is accused of breaking into a home on Hacienda Drive NE and assaulting residents on Tuesday, June 18. Matthews allegedly pushed a homeowner to the ground before stealing $150 and fleeing.

Police investigators learned that a similar break-in had occurred three days earlier on Sierra Drive SE.

Albuquerque police are continuing their investigation and said additional charges are pending.

Matthews faces two counts of aggravated burglary, one count of theft and one count of criminal damage.
