Robbery suspect arrested after police chase in north Toledo

The suspect was charged in March with multiple counts, including aggravated robbery and grand theft auto.

TOLEDO, Ohio – A suspect charged with aggravated robbery faces additional charges after allegedly leading police on a foot chase in north Toledo Wednesday afternoon.

A Toledo police sergeant who is part of the Gang Task Force said in the report that he observed 34-year-old Ramone Mosby — who he recognized — trying to hide after seeing the officers. Police said they learned that Mosby had five outstanding warrants, including aggravated robbery, and began searching for him.

Officers spotted Mosby in a garage near Michigan and Locust streets, but he fled and began a “lengthy” foot chase, police described in the report. Mosby entered a home he did not own in the 800 block of Walnut Street and closed the door behind him in front of officers.

A police sergeant then forced his way into the building. Mosby allegedly tried to escape through another door but was caught, police said.

Police spoke with residents of the home where police and Mosby entered. Residents said they did not know the suspect. Police said there was little to no damage to the door frame.

The report also said that an officer’s gun holster broke during the pursuit after a fall.

Mosby was charged with resisting prosecution and obstruction of office, both second-degree misdemeanors, for Wednesday’s incident. A judge set Mosby’s bail at a total of $3,000; he pleaded not guilty to both charges on Friday.

Mosby was arrested in April after allegedly violently robbing a person. According to a court document, Mosby hit, shoved and pulled the victim’s hair while taking his cell phone, keys, EBT car and Dodge Durango. Mosby then allegedly returned on foot, attacked the victim again and stole his Chrysler 200 four-door sedan.

For the above alleged incident, Mosby was charged with the following on May 1:

  • 2 cases of aggravated robbery, a first degree crime with the specification of “repeat violent offender”
  • Grand theft of a motor vehicle, a fourth-degree felony
  • Possession of a weapon while disabled, a third-degree felony
