Level 1 Severe Storm Risk Issued for Metro Atlanta and North Georgia – WSB-TV Channel 2

ATLANTA — A Level 1 risk of severe thunderstorms has been issued for much of northern Georgia, including the Atlanta metro area, for Friday afternoon.

The main risks are strong to violent thunderstorms capable of producing devastating wind gusts, lightning and heavy rain.

Strong storms were already beginning to appear in the northwest corner of the state as heavy rains moved through metropolitan Atlanta just before 1 p.m.

  • Severe storms move into north Georgia this afternoon

  • Heat advisory in effect until 8 p.m.
