On Sunday, June 30, CCSO officers were called to check on Woods’ welfare at his home on Pleasant Hill Road.

When officers arrived, they found a trail of blood and drag marks leading from the house to where a vehicle was parked near the house, officers said.

Officials said Woods’ vehicle was missing, so they issued a statewide request to be on the lookout for the vehicle.

Sheriff DeWayne Smith said with help from other agencies, including the Mobile and Baldwin counties sheriff’s offices, they were able to locate the vehicle about 10 miles from Wood’s home Monday morning.

Woods’ body was not found near the vehicle. However, officers found Woods’ body at another location on Monday evening.

Smith said News 5 that they believe Wood was shot late Friday evening, June 28.
