Man jailed for attacking police dog

An 18-year-old man has been jailed for almost three years after attacking a police dog in Hull.

Keane Pyzer attacked the dog on April 4 after police gained entry to a property where it was located in Amberley Close.

He threatened the officers several times and threatened to harm the dog before attacking it and attempting to hit the handler with a shovel.

Pyzer, of High Street, Hull, was sentenced to 35 months in prison at Hull Crown Court on May 8.

Emergency services attended the property after Pyzer hit a taxi with a shovel when the driver demanded it pay.

At an earlier hearing, Pyzer pleaded guilty to criminal damage, threatening a person with an offensive weapon in a public place and actual bodily harm.

He also pleaded guilty to using threatening behavior to cause distress, making off without paying and causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal.
