Number of victims in mass shooting in East Akron rises to 30, police say

The number of victims of the June 2 mass murder in East Akron at the corner of Kelly and 8th Avenue was put at 30, according to Akron police.

That number includes LaTeris Cook, the 27-year-old man who was killed during the birthday party.

No arrests have been made and no charges have been filed, said Akron Police Lieutenant Brent Bauknecht, adding that there was no update on the investigation.

“Investigators are working around the clock to find out who is responsible for the shooting. They are doing everything they can,” Bauknecht said.

The number of reported victims has fluctuated in the month since the shooting, with the most recent reported figure being 28 victims.
