Two dead, Fort Worth police investigate three overnight shootings – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth

A shooting in Fort Worth on Thursday night left police in turmoil and neighbors in panic.

This happened on the night of the Fourth of July holiday in several areas east and south of Fort Worth.

Fort Worth police confirmed that at least one person was killed in the three shootings, all of which occurred within a 30-minute period.

The 911 call about the first shooting was made around 11:30 p.m. Thursday from 3700 Castleman Street at the southern end of the Stop Six neighborhood in east Fort Worth.

Ambulances and police were immediately dispatched to the scene. Fort Worth police have only confirmed that the shooting is being investigated as a homicide. Officials said they would release more information as soon as they receive more details from the homicide unit.

NBC 5 camera crews spoke to witnesses at the scene about the incident. They said people had been enjoying Fourth of July fireworks in the hours before the shooting.

“When I got home, I heard what I thought were new fireworks…Everyone was running and looking back,” said Bobby Warner, who witnessed the shooting on Castleman Street. “But I didn’t see any lights – it wasn’t fireworks. People got hurt today.”

Meanwhile, the other two shootings occurred just minutes after the first.

At 11:47 p.m., shots were fired on Eastland Street, just blocks from the first shooting at Stop Six. Fort Worth police have confirmed that the two cases are related.

Then, around 11:40 p.m., another shooting occurred at a car wash in the 7500 block of West Cleburne Road in far southwest Fort Worth. That incident was confirmed by authorities as a homicide.

Fort Worth police were still on scene at 6:30 a.m. investigating both homicides. This article will be updated as more details become available.
