Man pronounced dead after fireworks accident in Summerville on July 4

A man was pronounced dead following a fireworks accident in Summerville, according to the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office. (WCIV)

A man was pronounced dead as a result of a fireworks accident in Summerville, according to the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident occurred on July 4 at around 10:23 p.m. in the 100 block of Cottonwood Drive in the Crestwood Subdivision in Summerville.

The Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office and Dorchester County EMS were dispatched to the scene and upon arrival found a man lying in the roadway of Cottonwood Drive.

The man suffered serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Witnesses from the neighborhood attributed the injuries to a fireworks accident.

Detectives and forensic investigators are currently investigating this incident. The identity of the victim is currently unknown.
