Hemet police shoot suspect after report of armed man, authorities say

HEMET, Calif. (CNS) – A man was shot and killed by police in Hemet after officers responded to a 911 call that an intoxicated man had left a downtown bar with a gun in his pants, authorities said.

Officers approached the man around 1:40 a.m. Thursday in the 200 block of East Florida Avenue, where police say shots were fired. There were

No further details have been released about the events leading up to the shooting.

The man died at the scene of the accident. His name was not released until next of kin were notified.

It is not known whether officers sustained injuries.

An investigation into the officers involved is currently being conducted by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office Force Investigation Detail in cooperation

with the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office and the California Department of Justice.
