Man killed while handling fireworks on northwest side, police said

According to Chicago police, a 34-year-old man was killed while handling fireworks in the Hermosa neighborhood on Thursday evening.

According to Cook County police and the medical examiner’s office, Earl Lory suffered injuries to his body from the fireworks at around 10 p.m. in the 3000 block of North Kostner Avenue. Lory, of Belmont Cragin, was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said.

Police said detectives are investigating the death.
