Semi-trailer crash shuts Berkeley County highway Thursday; driver injured – The Panhandle News Network

MARTINBURG, West Virginia — A crash involving a semi-truck on I-81 snarled traffic for more than three hours yesterday. The crash at the 12-mile marker was reported just before 3 p.m. and caused the complete closure of the southbound lanes of the interstate during the busy Fourth of July travel rush.

A Berkeley County Dispatch dispatcher told Panhandle News Network that the truck driver was injured and that no passenger vehicle was involved, despite a photo showing the tractor-trailer resting on an object the size of a car. She did, however, say that a guardrail was badly damaged.

Nothing is known about the driver’s condition, although the radio transmission at the time indicated that he was complaining of a headache.
