Fireworks accident on Long Island burns down houses – NBC New York

A 33-year-old Long Island man was arrested in connection with a fireworks accident involving an 11-year-old child and that caused two homes to catch fire, authorities said.

Karamjit Singh allegedly gave the child the fireworks outside his Levittown home on the morning of July 4 and told him to light them. The fireworks malfunctioned and set fire to a detached shed, which then burst into flames, police said.

According to police, the fire spread to Singh’s house and that of a neighbor. Both houses suffered significant damage, police said. No injuries were reported.

Sing is accused of arson, reckless endangerment, endangering a child and various fireworks offenses. Information about a possible attorney for him was not immediately available Friday.
