Former YSRC MP arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a housemaid in Kurnool

KURNOOL: Former YSRC MP from Kodumur constituency in Kurnool district Dr Jeradoddi Sudhakar was arrested on Thursday night for allegedly sexually harassing his housekeeper. The MP has been booked under the POCSO Act and various sections of the IPC.

According to sources, no action was taken against the then YSRC MP despite a complaint from the victim before the elections.

According to police, the victim’s parents worked as domestic help at the former MP’s Kurnool residence and the victim used to visit the house frequently. Sudhakar is alleged to have been exploiting the girl for the past few years. Unable to bear the harassment, the girl filed a complaint at Kurnool II Town police station in May this year.

A video of the former YSRC MP for his misbehaviour with the victim also went viral, but no action was taken against him as he belonged to the ruling party.

With the change of government, the police have now taken action against the complaint filed by the 19-year-old victim.

Since the alleged sexual assault had been going on for several years, the police have registered a case under Section 5(1) of the POCSO Act and Sections 376(2), 376(3) and 506 of the IPC.

Sudhakar was picked up from his residence in Kurnool and taken to Orvakal police station. After questioning, he was taken to the government hospital in Kurnool for medical examination. He was then produced in court and remanded to Kurnool Central Jail for 14 days, said Kurnool District Attorney Krishnanath. TNIE.

Sudhakar contested on the YSRC ticket from Kodumur constituency (SC reserved) in Kurnool district in the 2019 elections and won. However, the party denied him candidature in the 2024 elections.
