1 dead in house fire in North Highlands

One person was found dead in a house fire Thursday morning in North Highlands, the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District said. Firefighters were dispatched to the scene of the accident on Grouse Court at Blue Duck Way around 7:51 a.m. Firefighters entered the home, which was filled with heavy smoke, and searched for anyone inside, Sac Metro Fire said. The person was found at the scene and pronounced dead. There were no working smoke alarms in the home at the time of the fire, Sac Metro Fire said. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
