One person has died in a house fire in the North Highlands, according to emergency officials

NORTH HIGHLANDS – Fire officials say one person was found dead in a North Highlands home following a fire Thursday morning.

Metro Fire of Sacramento crews responded to the scene on Grouse Court just before 8 a.m

Firefighters encountered heavy smoke and flames coming from the home. The emergency services also received reports that someone was still inside.

Emergency services used hose lines to get inside and find the missing person. That person was soon pronounced dead, Metro Fire says.

Officials said no working smoke detectors were found in the home.

What exactly caused the fire is currently being investigated.
