Large building destroyed after Huntingtown fire, cause under investigation – Southern Maryland News Net

On Thursday, July 4, 2024, at approximately 10:22 p.m., firefighters from North Beach and surrounding departments responded to the 600 block of Walton Road in Huntingtown for a reported structure fire.

Dispatchers informed all responders that they had received multiple calls about a structure fire. They had upgraded the incident to a working fire and additional firefighters from Anne Arundel and Calvert counties were dispatched to the scene.

When the emergency services arrived on the scene, they found a large barn that was already completely engulfed in flames. The emergency management announced that this was a defensive measure as the entire building was on fire.

Firefighters from St. Mary’s, Calvert, Charles and Anne Arundel responded or provided temporary fire support while crews operated on the scene for more than three hours.

The Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office responded by investigating the cause of the fire.
