Gweru robber and rapist sentenced to 31 years in prison – The Southern Eye

A 29-year-old man from Clifton Park in Gweru has been sentenced to 31 years in prison for rape and robbery.

Obert Ncube appeared before the Gweru Magistrate’s Court and was charged with three counts of robbery and two counts of rape.

The court heard that on March 5, 2023, Ncube and his accomplices, who are still at large, attacked the plaintiff as she was on her way home.

Ncube is said to have stolen a Huawei cell phone from her at knifepoint.

The suspects dragged the complainant to a bush.

It is alleged that Ncube’s accomplices wanted to kill her, but the convict chose to rape her.

The complainant managed to escape. He hid in a pit. The next day a report was filed with the police.

Ncube was arrested on September 17, 2023 in another rape case.
