Ethan Whitten killed in dirt bike crash in Vermont – NECN

An 18-year-old died after an accident with his dirt bike in Athens, Vermont.

State police said an Athens resident contacted them around 2 p.m. on July 4 after they found an unconscious person in an embankment near Brookline Road.

Officers found Ethan Whitten and his Honda XR400. The Grafton teenager was pronounced dead at the scene near Valley Cemetery Road, police said.

According to police, the dirt bike suffered only minor damage in the accident.

On Thursday morning, state police issued a news release stating that Whitten had been reported missing the previous evening. Photos were released of Whitten and the red and white dirt bike he was last seen on.

According to police, Whitten’s disappearance was first reported around 10:11 p.m. on Wednesday. He was last seen around 3 p.m. in the Brookline Road area. He was said to be wearing tan boots, red gloves, red “Fox” pants and blue shorts under his pants.

Police had said his disappearance was not considered suspicious, but there were concerns for Whitten’s well-being.
