A 10-month-old New Mexico baby who was the subject of an Amber Alert and was kidnapped by a double murder suspect has been found safe after a three-day search ended, police said.

Eleia Maria Torres was found after her abduction and a suspect was taken into custody, Clovis police said in a Facebook post Monday.

The Amber Alert for Torres was issued Friday after police found her mother, Samantha Cisneros, and another woman, Taryn Allen, dead in Ned Houk Park around 4:30 p.m. A five-year-old girl was also shot and taken to the hospital. Her condition remains unknown.

At the scene, police found a car seat, a stroller and a baby bottle. The search for Torres began immediately after he learned that Cisneros was the baby’s mother.

In 2023, 1,200 children were successfully located through the AMBER Alert system and 180 children were saved thanks to wireless emergency alerts.

Newsweek created a map using 2022 data that shows states experienced the most Amber Alerts in 2022. According to the data, there were 31 Amber Alerts in Texas in 2022.
