Suspect in stolen Prius leads LA police on high-speed pursuit

LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA (AZFamily)— Police authorities in the Los Angeles area on Thursday pursued a suspect who allegedly stole a car and led officers on a wild chase throughout the San Fernando Valley.

According to CBS Los Angeles, it is unclear what prompted the officer to initiate the pursuit, but news helicopters tracked the suspect through North Hollywood, Pacoima and Sun Valley.

“At one point, the driver drove straight through a gate into what appeared to be a dead end in front of a tire store at the corner of Fleetwood Street and Tujunga Avenue in Sun Valley before ramming through a barrier, breaking the windshield and damaging the front of the car,” CBS LA reported late Thursday.

Speeds reached up to 100 mph, but fluctuated widely as the suspect drove through the city’s streets and highways.
