This indoor roller coaster is an icon of the Disney parks. Walt Disney World Resort, Disneyland Resort, Tokyo Disney Resort, Hong Kong Disneyland Resort and Disneyland Paris Resort each have their own versions of this intergalactic attraction.

Over the years, Walt Disney Imagineering has modernized certain Space Mountain attractions around the world. Hong Kong Disneyland and Disneyland Park (Paris) now operate war of stars Hyperspace Mountain. Space Mountain at Tokyo Disneyland will close later this month for its transformation into Space Mountain (2027).

Some overlays are temporary. Hyperspace Mountain comes to Disneyland Park seasonally, while Magic Kingdom Park features festive overlays exclusive to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party and Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party.

This week, TikTok user @drewcunn shared this video of his party caught on Space Mountain at Disneyland Park. The Disneyland Resort guest experienced a rare phenomenon: he saw the roller coaster with the lights on — a dream for many lifelong Disney Parks fans.

The clip shows dozens of riders trapped on rockets on the indoor roller coaster. A Disney employee can be heard giving instructions over the intercom, but the exact meaning is unclear.

The TikToker later posted another clip of rockets jammed on Space Mountain. It appears that Disney employees did not evacuate the rides, but instead pulled each car to the unloading platform.

The guest claimed the attraction was closed because “(too) many cars were out at once.” The Disneyland Resort has not publicly confirmed the reason for the closure this week.
