Buffalo man arrested following disturbance call at Amherst apartment complex

AMHERST, N.Y. — A Buffalo man faces multiple charges after police responded to a disturbance call at an apartment complex.

Amherst police said they received a call around 5:45 p.m. Thursday about a loud party at an apartment complex off Sweet Home Road. Officers who arrived at the scene reported seeing more than 150 people around the pool, “the majority of whom were not residents of the complex,” police said in a statement.

Most people left the scene, but police say Jayquan Montgomery, 22, of Buffalo, “was observed by officers firing projectiles from a fireworks display into the crowd.”

Montgomery is charged with reckless endangerment, unlawful trafficking in fireworks and harassment. He was released with a ticket to appear in Amherst Town Court.
