Bixby Fire Department and Community Mourn Loss of Fire Lieutenant Off Duty After Tractor Accident | News

BIXBY, Oklahoma – The Bixby Fire Department is mourning the loss of a fire lieutenant who was killed in an off-duty tractor accident Wednesday afternoon.

The Bixby Fire Department said the loss of Lt. Nic Guthrie has deeply impacted the entire Bixby community.

Bixby Fire posted on Facebook about Guthrie’s death:

“Lieutenant Guthrie’s dedication and service to the community of Bixby for more than 20 years exemplified the best qualities of a true firefighter. His commitment to protecting and serving the citizens of Bixby with honor and distinction will always be remembered and cherished. His passing leaves a void that will be felt within the brotherhood of the department and by all who had the privilege of knowing him.”

Guthrie was a graduate of the Bixby Spartan and began his career as a volunteer with the Liberty Volunteer Fire Department, Bixby Fire said. He was then hired full-time by Bixby in January 2001.

“We extend our deepest condolences to his wife and two children, and to all who were touched by his kindness and bravery,” Bixby Fire said in the post.
