Court remands man in custody for alleged rape

A magistrate court in Ikorodu, Lagos State on Thursday ordered the remand of 47-year-old Olatubosun Fayakinnu in a reformatory for allegedly assaulting a fellow human being.

Fayakinnu was charged with sexual assault by penetration.

The judge, Mrs AB Olagbegi-Adelabu, did not accept the suspect’s confession and adjourned the case to August 8 while she awaited legal advice from the Attorney General.

Earlier, the State Prosecutor, ASP Aminu Isaac, told the court that on June 24, at No. 20, Island Avenue, Agricultural Area of ​​Ikorodu, the suspect hired a 25-year-old man to work for him in his house but forced him to undergo sexual penetration through the anus.

The prosecutor claimed that the victim went blind after engaging in sexual acts with the defendant.

He noted that the offences contravened the provisions of sections 261 and 265 of the Lagos State Criminal Law, 2015. (NAN)
