Hull man Owen Evers sentenced to 18 years for child abuse

A man who police described as a “despicable criminal” has been jailed for 18 years for historic child abuse offences.

Owen Evers, 61, of Rishworth Close, Hull, was sentenced on May 8 after being found guilty at Hull Crown Court of rape, sexual activity and inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.

Evers was also given a lifetime sexual harassment prevention order.

In a statement read out in court, Evers’ victims said they would “never forget” what happened to them, but said “it will not determine my future life.”
