Storms inland tonight, then increasing heat – 104.5 WOKV

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – First Alert Chief Meteorologist Mike Buresh is monitoring storms and heat tonight.

Isolated thunderstorms inland will die down quickly in the early evening, with partly cloudy skies for most of the fireworks displays. An isolated shower or storm will linger west of Highway 301 after sunset. Otherwise, it will be a warm and muggy evening.

Friday through Saturday will be hot, with only isolated (less than 25% of the region) thunderstorms in the afternoon, while maximum temperatures will be between 35 and 42 degrees Celsius and the feel of the temperature will be between 39 and 42 degrees Celsius.

The risk of storms increases on Sunday afternoon as showers and storms become more frequent again.

Meanwhile, Hurricane Beryl is weakening and will make landfall in the Yucatan Peninsula on Friday. Late Sunday night and Monday, it will move toward the northern coast of Mexico or southernmost Texas, where it may regain hurricane strength after weakening over land. There will be no local impacts, and no impacts to Florida.

Here’s a look at your 7-day forecast:

AT THE MOMENT: Isolated storms inland with temperatures between 21 and 25 degrees, sunny on the beaches with temperatures between 30 and 29 degrees.

THE TROPICS: (1) Hurricane Beryl will move across the Yucatan Peninsula on Friday and then into the southwestern Gulf of Mexico. On Sunday/Monday it will make landfall on the northern coast of Mexico or in the far south of Texas – without causing any local impact. (2) A tropical wave is moving into the central Caribbean and has some long-range impact potential over the western Gulf of Mexico, but no local impacts.
