Narragansett Police Arrest Man on Multiple Charges Following Narragansett Town Beach Incident

Chief Sean Corrigan reports that an arrest was made following an incident at Narragansett Town Beach on the night of Wednesday, July 3.

JOSHUA ADAMS, 18 YEARS OLD, FROM NORTH KINGSTOWN was arrested and charged with:

  • Carrying a weapon under the influence of alcohol or drugs
  • Improper conduct.

Shortly after 9:30 p.m., Narragansett Police and Community Service Officers (CSOs) were patrolling the area of ​​Narragansett Town Beach when the CSOs observed a group of teenagers involved in an argument that escalated into a fight.

Narragansett Town Beach security arrived and attempted to disperse the crowd. During the commotion, a person later identified as ADAMfled the scene and beach security reported that the man had a gun.

A witness later told police that ADAM was screaming and waving a gun.

After a short pursuit on foot, the civilians were able to ADAMArriving police officers found a replica BB gun in ADAM’S possession and had him arrested.

“Pointing a weapon, whether real or imitation, is an extremely dangerous act,” said Police Chief Corrigan. “The officers on the scene often have only a split second to decide if they are facing a deadly threat. I am proud of our officers and community service members who showed restraint and handled the entire situation professionally.”

Narragansett Police emphasize that the phrase “alcohol and guns don’t mix.” People whose judgment may be impaired by any substance should not carry firearms, real or fake, with or without a permit.

These are allegations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
