Mesa Silver Alert lifted for man with high-functioning autism

PHOENIX – A Silver Alert for a 30-year-old Mesa man with high-functioning autism was lifted Thursday, authorities said.

According to Mesa police, Matthew Johnson-White was found safe and sound in Oregon.

The authorities originally issued the silver warning on Wednesday.

According to Mesa police, he was described in the complaint as being 6’3″ tall and weighing about 175 pounds. He is black, has short black hair and brown eyes.

Authorities said he left his home in a blue 2015 Chevy Malibu with Arizona license plate BBD9727 and appeared to be in an agitated state. He was last heard from around 6 p.m. Tuesday after leaving his home near Broadway and Stapley roads.

According to Mesa police, Matthew’s family is concerned that he may try to harm himself.
