Fatal boating accident: One man died, 10 others injured in a boating accident in Alamitos Bay in Long Beach, California, authorities say

LONG BEACH, California – One man was killed and several others were injured in a boating accident in Long Beach on Wednesday evening, authorities confirmed.

It happened around 9:30 p.m. in Alamitos Bay.

According to the Long Beach Fire Department, 11 people were aboard a pleasure boat that collided with the rocks.

The victim, described only as a man between 45 and 50 years old, died at the scene.

A total of ten people were hospitalized, three of them with critical injuries.

According to the fire department, speed apparently played a role in the accident.

The incident remains under investigation.
