Indiana man killed in car crash in Berrien Township

A man from Laporte, Indiana, was killed in a car crash in Berrien Township early Thursday.

According to the Berrien County Sheriff’s Department, the incident occurred around 12:10 a.m. on Dean Hills Road near Hochberger Road.

When sheriffs arrived on scene, they learned that a single vehicle was traveling northeast on Deans Hill when it failed to negotiate a curve and veered off the road to the right. The vehicle struck the guardrail, crashed into a ditch, and struck several large trees.

The 29-year-old driver was trapped in the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

The name of the driver has not been released and the accident remains under investigation.
