A Webster native who served as a police officer in Cleveland shot

ROCHESTER, NY (WROC) — A Webster native and Cleveland, Ohio police officer was shot and killed Thursday morning.

According to Cleveland police, Officer Jamieson Ritter was shot while responding to a report of a man wanted for aggravated assault. He was 27 years old. Cleveland’s WJW reports that 24-year-old Delawnte Hardy was taken into custody.


Ritter graduated from McQuaid Jesuit High School in 2015 and graduated from Syracuse University in 2019.

He was commissioned a lieutenant in the Army National Guard, served in the 134th Field Artillery Regiment of the Ohio Army National Guard, and deployed to Syria in 2022.

He joined the Cleveland Police Department in 2020 and continued to serve the city after his deployment, serving in the division for four years.

The Greek Police Department posted on X that Ritter is the son of retired GPD officer Jon Ritter. He retired in 2013. They posted that they are asking the community for prayers.
