Neil Gaiman denies allegations of sexual assault and claims remorse and false memories played a role in the accusations

Disturbing allegations of sexual assault have recently resurfaced against acclaimed author Neil Gaiman. The allegations, first published by Tortoise Media, relate to statements by two women who accuse Gaiman of sexual assault during what they describe as a consensual relationship. According to the alleged victims, Gaiman had degrading and non-consensual sexual encounters with them.

One of the accusers, Scarlett, claims she was sexually assaulted in February 2022, shortly after meeting Neil Gaiman. She claims the incident occurred in a bathtub at his home in New Zealand, where she was employed as a nanny. Gaiman claims their interactions were consensual, describing them as cuddling and smooching, followed by a consensual three-week relationship. Scarlett insists Gaiman’s behavior was crude and degrading, which is backed up by messages and accounts from friends.
