Police arrest teenager after fatal shooting in Findlay

18-year-old J’vion Zimmerman was shot and killed in May.

FINDLAY, Ohio – Police have arrested and charged a suspect in connection with the Findlay shooting that killed 18-year-old J’vion Zimmerman, according to a news release.

The suspect was tracked down and arrested, Findlay police said in a news release Thursday. The suspect, a minor, was charged with the following counts:

  • Manslaughter, a first degree crime
  • Intentional manslaughter, a first degree crime
  • Possession of a weapon while disabled, a third-degree felony
  • Tampering with evidence, a third degree felony

Police have not yet released the suspect’s name. The case is expected to be referred to the Court of Common Pleas in the coming weeks, police said.

The case is still under investigation.

Zimmerman was shot shortly before 7 p.m. on May 27 in the 100 block of Howard Street, off North Main Street. Zimmerman, of Port Clinton, was found in an alley with at least one gunshot wound to the chest, police said.

Zimmerman was taken to the hospital where he later died.
