East Orange police investigate violent knife attack in apartment building

East Orange Police are currently investigating a stabbing incident that occurred inside a building Thursday morning.

Local residents and surveillance cameras indicated that police responded to a 911 call from an apartment building at 105 Park Avenue at around 1:29 a.m.

When officers arrived, they found several victims with serious stab wounds.

All injured people were taken to the university hospital and are still in serious condition. Among the victims are an adult woman and at least one child.

The victims’ family told RLS Media that a woman was in the apartment with her two children, aged about one and four years old. However, it is unclear whether she shared the apartment with anyone else.

The Essex County District Attorney’s Office said the incident is currently being handled by East Orange police.

The motive for the stabbing is currently being actively investigated; there are currently no reports of arrests.
