Young woman killed in traffic accident in western Prince Edward Island

A 25-year-old Prince County woman died after a car crash late Wednesday afternoon in western Prince Edward Island

The Prince District Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), Island EMS, Alberton Fire Department and the Ministry of Transportation responded to the emergency call. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, the RCMP said in a news release.

The accident occurred around 5:10 p.m. on Route 145 in Brooklyn, near Alberton. The woman was the only occupant of the car.

After the accident, the road was closed for several hours, but has now reopened.
