Dead Season adds a zombie twist to turn-based tactics

Dead Seasons Mix of survival and turn-based gameplay

Viewed from the surface, Dead season seems to play very similarly to XCOM and other turn-based tactical games. In Dead seasonPlayers take control of a group of four survivors as they fight their way through 16 missions in a single-player campaign. In each of these missions, players must complete various objectives, such as clearing a house full of zombies and barricading windows and doors. Dead season is played by a XCOM-like top-down view, and in combat, players move in a turn-based manner, shooting zombies and fighting them in close combat.

While turn-based battles are the real be-all and end-all Dead seasonThe indie zombie game features a looting system alongside the gameplay. Over the course of a level, players must search their environment for new weapons and consumables, incorporating some elements from survival horror games such as resident Evil. Stealth will also play a role in Dead seasonas noise attracts large groups of enemies. Players can attach items to their weapons to aid them in combat, such as an oil filter that can suppress the noise of a weapon for three shots.

Accordingly Dead seasonAccording to the Return of Evil Steam page, players can also increase the level of their survivors during the campaign, giving them special abilities that can be used in combat, such as the ability to heal themselves by healing their teammates. Dead season also doesn’t shy away from the brutality often associated with its genre, with each murder ending with a brief but satisfying splatter of blood and guts.

Tale of the dead season

Although it is developed by only one person, Dead season promises a fairly long campaign with 16 missions. Spread throughout the campaign are a number of Max Payne-like motion comics that help advance the story from mission to mission and give fans a bit more information about the game’s core cast of survivors. But as with other turn-based tactics games, most Dead seasonThe most memorable narrative moments will likely come from the gameplay itself, with the genre’s notoriously difficult percentage hit/miss system likely making for some incredibly frustrating as well as some incredibly cinematic moments.
