Two men have been sentenced to prison for the rape of a teenager in north London.

Adilson Domingos, 42, of West Ham, and Baxton Atenis, 29, of Tottenham, were found guilty in February after a three-week trial at Wood Green Crown Court.

On Monday, Atenis was sentenced to 13 years in prison and Domingos to 12 years in prison.

The victim, then 16, was out and about in the center with a friend London in July 2021, when the two men approached her and forced her to get into a car.

The couple then drove the girl to Atenis’ house, where both men raped her.

In the early hours of the following morning, the girl managed to leave the house and called the police.

The metropolitan police said the girl provided important details for the investigation, including the address where the men took her, a description of the car and a phone number Atenis gave her.

Atenis was arrested first, after which detectives identified and arrested Domingos. Domingos was also identified through a social media profile.

Detective Constable Daniella Biggins said Domingos and Atenis were “highly dangerous, predatory individuals who targeted a young girl and isolated her from her friends before raping her”.

She said: “With the support of her wonderful family and friends, the victim showed tremendous courage and bravery in assisting a police investigation. I would like to personally thank her for the strength she showed and also the witnesses who gave evidence.

“I can only hope that the conviction will help provide closure to the victim after this horrific experience while also helping to keep these dangerous individuals off the streets.”

She added: “I would encourage anyone who is a victim or witness of a sexual assault to contact the police. You will be listened to and specially trained officers will support you throughout the criminal investigation.”

“There is no tolerance for such serious crimes and this conviction is a reminder that those who commit such horrific crimes will be found and brought to justice.”
