Chippewa County woman charged after alleged roadside aggression incident on Highway 53 | Crimes & Courts

A woman is facing charges in Chippewa County following an alleged incident of driving aggression on Highway 53 in May.



CHIPPEWA COUNTY (WQOW) – A woman faces charges in Chippewa County following an alleged road rage incident on Highway 53 in May.

Ashley Smrecek of Greenwood is charged with second-degree reckless endangerment.

According to the criminal complaint:

On May 28, police were called to a rollover accident in Lake Hallie. It was Smrecek’s car. Police said she told them she intentionally drove into the passing car after the driver and passenger gave her the middle finger.

The victim told police he had previously been behind her in the left lane when Smrecek “braked him.” He also said Smrecek gave him the middle finger first.

If convicted, the defendant faces a maximum of ten years in prison and a fine of $25,000.

Smrecek is scheduled to appear in court for the first time on Tuesday.
